Adequate food remains an inaccessible need for survivors of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, particularly orphans and people with disabilities. In response, Sinergi Amil Zakat – Sinergi Foundation distributed 100 food baskets in North Gaza as part of the Wujudkan Anak Ceria programme.

The aid was delivered on 16 July 2026 to orphaned children, those with disabilities, and children wounded in the conflict. Through cooperation with local partners, the assistance reached survivors at the Al-Quds displacement centre in North Gaza.

Survivors at the displacement centre are forced to live in poverty and food scarcity every day. Some have become disabled after losing limbs in attacks. They survive by pinning their hopes on humanitarian assistance to meet their daily needs.

The food packages they received contained a variety of staples such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, tomato paste, tinned sweetcorn, biscuits, tinned tuna, chocolate, macaroni, fava beans, feta cheese, tahini, tinned pineapple and tea. The packages are expected to help meet the food and nutritional needs of the displaced, especially the children.

One beneficiary in North Gaza expressed gratitude. “Shukran Muassasah Sinergi Foundation. Shukran minal qalbi lisya’bi Indonesia. (Thank you to Sinergi Foundation. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the people of Indonesia),” said the resident of North Gaza.

Waeli Mohdan, Director of Sinergi Amil Zakat, emphasised that children are the group most affected by the prolonged humanitarian crisis in Gaza. For that reason, food aid is one form of urgent support to ensure they still have the chance to grow and develop properly.

“We believe every child deserves a decent life, including access to sufficient food. Through the trust placed in us by our donors, we want to ensure our brothers and sisters in Gaza feel that they are not struggling alone,” he said.

The food distribution is part of the Wujudkan Anak Ceria movement. The movement provides support for orphans, the poor and people with disabilities in Indonesia and Palestine. Beyond food aid, the programme also covers educational support, school supplies and social mentoring so that children retain hope to grow, learn and achieve a better future.

Through collaboration with the Indonesian public, Sinergi Amil Zakat hopes that more children can survive and grow amid difficult conditions. Whatever the circumstances, every child has the right to develop optimally so they can become an intelligent and empowered generation in the future.
