Sindunegara will become doctor

Karyana Sindunegara, 62, a senior lecturer from the Diponegoro University in Semarang, Central Java, will be inducted on Wednesday as doctor on literature at an inauguration ceremony at the School of Literature of the University of Indonesia (UI) in Depok.

At his induction, Soedradjat is scheduled to present a scientific paper entitled Pengaruh Matra Sansekerta di Indonesia (the Influence of Sanskrit Words in Indonesian Language) .

Born in Yogyakarta, Sindunegara finished his elementary and junior high school in his hometown. He received his S1 (master's) degree in literature from Gajah Mada University in Yogyakarta in 1966.

He began his career as a lecturer at the Diponegoro University in Semarang in 1967, where he is still teaching.

A father of four, who married Sri Moyokapti, he will be the 4th doctor to be inducted by UI this month. (has)
