Since Ceasefire Began in October 2025, Israel Has Killed 260 Palestinian Children
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has revealed that more than 260 Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip have been killed by Israeli attacks since a ceasefire came into force in October 2025. UNICEF described the ceasefire there as merely a cruel and deadly illusion.
“We are in the midst of what is supposed to be a ceasefire, but what we are seeing is a cruel and deadly illusion of a ceasefire. On average, one child is killed every day,” said UNICEF spokesperson James Elder in an interview with Anadolu Agency on Thursday (25/6/2026).
Elder disclosed that recently a number of children in Gaza were killed by Israeli drone strikes and aerial bombardments. “Since the start of this supposed ceasefire, more than 260 children have been killed,” he said.
He warned that the humanitarian situation facing Gaza’s children continues to worsen. They are suffering from malnutrition and a lack of clean water supplies. “We have managed to prevent famine, but we have not been able to bring in sufficient quantities of nutritious food,” Elder stated.
“No child in Gaza can eat three meals a day containing all the nutrients they need. This is the picture of the ceasefire in Gaza,” Elder added.
He revealed that children require a diverse diet but are only receiving limited types of food. Meanwhile, restrictions on humanitarian logistics supplies continue to hamper aid efforts.
“Almost nine months after the ceasefire, there is still a significant water shortage, and children are not receiving adequate nutrition,” Elder said.
