Since Becoming President, Prabowo Warns Against Shutting Down Illegal Practices and Smuggling
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has emphasised his commitment to eradicating illegal actions that harm the Indonesian nation. Since becoming President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo has continuously called for the cessation of illegal practices, smuggling, and actions that deceive the people. “From the moment I received the mandate from the people, I have continuously urged and invited, in a persuasive manner, with a humane approach as fellow Indonesians, as fellow sons of the Nusantara,” said Prabowo at the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung), Jakarta, on Friday (10/4/2026). “I invite you, let us close down the bad practices, let us shut down deceiving the people, deceiving superiors, backing bad practices, smuggling, illegal mining, illegal plantations,” he continued. The Head of State also continues to emphasise that working in government is a sacrifice and service. “We understand, I know your salaries may not be sufficient. But if we look, our people are in a worse situation than us, we must understand that working for the government is service, working for the government in government is service,” he stated. Because, according to Prabowo, the wealth of the nation and the Indonesian people has been plundered for too long. Therefore, he issued Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 5 of 2025 last January. “If anyone threatens the PKH Task Force, they are threatening the President of the Republic of Indonesia. If anyone obstructs the PKH Task Force, they are obstructing the work of the President of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.
