Since 2025, Jakarta Education Department Removes 40 KJP Beneficiaries Involved in Brawls
The Jakarta Education Department (Disdik) has recorded 40 Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP) beneficiaries removed since 2025 due to involvement in brawls. Jakarta Education Department Head Nahdiana stated that 20 KJP beneficiaries were removed in 2025 for brawl-related incidents, with the figure rising to 40 by 2026. ‘From 2025 to now, it totals 40,’ Nahdiana said at the DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives building on Kebon Sirih Street, Central Jakarta, on Monday, May 25, 2026. She stated that the decision to remove beneficiaries was not solely punitive, but intended as a learning experience. Therefore, the department ensures these students can continue their education even without KJP benefits, including through non-formal education pathways where diplomas can be obtained via PKBM (Community Learning Centres). ‘We coordinate with schools to place these students in non-formal education if necessary, but they must not drop out. Even those outside formal schooling are now being integrated,’ Nahdiana said. She explained that the department does not immediately remove KJP beneficiaries involved in brawls, as each student has the right to receive guidance first. ‘Brawls vary in nature—some students join unintentionally, others knowingly follow peers, while some instigate. Each case undergoes a specific process,’ Nahdiana added.
