Sinarmas Land and Asix Target the Global Technology Market Worth 16 Trillion USD
JAKARTA - The UNCTAD Technology and Innovation Report 2025 issues a warning signal while highlighting opportunities for the global economy, with the frontier technology market such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics predicted to soar from 2.5 trillion USD in 2023 to 16.4 trillion USD in 2033.
For developing countries like Indonesia, this figure represents a challenge regarding the relevance of industry in the next decade.
Hitherto, robotics in Indonesia has been viewed as a complement to the manufacturing industry or merely a technological attraction.
However, the strategic steps of BSD City demonstrate a paradigm shift. Robotics is beginning to be positioned as the backbone of the future city ecosystem.
CEO of Digital Tech Ecosystem and Development at Sinarmas Land, Irawan Harahap, emphasised that the transformation of an area is no longer just about the physical aspects.
This statement underscores that the competitiveness of a property area in the future is measured by how capable that area is to become the “parent” for the development of high technology.
Building a centre for innovation research and an AI and robotics academy is a bold step, yet it also reveals a major homework: the availability of talent.
Without a supply of competent human resources, the research centre will only end up as a monument of hardware without a soul.
He stated, through this collaboration, we want to create an ecosystem where AI and robotics research and development can thrive and provide real impacts for society and industry in Indonesia.
“Focus on the academy and research centre indicates that the industry is beginning to realise that buying technology is far more expensive than building capacity to create it,” added Andrie.
