Sinarmas AM Targets Young Generation Through Digital Pension Fund
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Sinarmas Asset Management (Sinarmas AM), an investment manager with Rp 64.8 trillion in assets under management as of February 2026, has launched the Sinarmas Asset Management Financial Institution Pension Fund (DPLK SAM) on a digital platform. The company claims this is the first pension fund in Indonesia established by an investment manager.
The launch of DPLK SAM took place in the Main Hall of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), Jakarta, on Friday (3/7/2026). DPLK SAM has received approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) through Decree Number KEP-39/D.05/2026 dated 5 June 2026.
Sinarmas AM President Director Alex Setyawan W.K. stated that the presence of DPLK SAM is a strategic move to expand financial inclusion while strengthening the long-term investment ecosystem in Indonesia. “The launch of DPLK SAM is not only a business expansion for Sinarmas AM, but also a tangible contribution to strengthening the financial resilience of the Indonesian people,” Alex said in a press statement on Saturday (4/7/2026). “As the first investment manager to establish a DPLK, we aim to present a modern, easily accessible digital pension fund service that is relevant to the needs of today’s generation,” he continued.
The launch event was also attended by Indonesia Stock Exchange Director of Transaction Supervision and Compliance Yulianto Aji Sadono, Sinarmas AM President Commissioner I.J. Soegeng Wibowo, DPLK SAM Chairman Stephanus Rudi Ok., DPLK SAM Board Member Yoel Tanzil, DPLK SAM Supervisory Board Chairman Syarifudin Yunus, and Supervisory Board Member Al Iskandar Pringgodigdo.
A significant portion of informal and self-employed workers still lack a planned pension programme. This comes as the government and OJK continue to push for improved financial literacy and retirement preparedness as part of the development agenda towards Indonesia Emas 2045.
DPLK SAM targets companies within the Sinar Mas business pillars, private companies in Indonesia, and individual workers in both the formal and informal sectors through a Defined Contribution Pension Programme (PPIP). To broaden participation, the company will utilise the DPLK SAM digital application and partner distribution networks. DPLK SAM carries the tagline “Your Trusted Partner for a Prosperous Retirement.”
The company also envisions becoming a trusted pillar in realising the financial independence of the Indonesian people in retirement through secure and technology-based pension fund management. Its principles include raising awareness of the importance of early retirement planning, providing inclusive and easily accessible products, and integrating digital technology to make services more efficient, transparent, and reliable.
All services are supported through the SimPensiun digital platform, which allows the public to register, monitor funds, change investment options, and even disburse pension benefits online. This digital approach is designed to reach the younger generation, particularly Gen Z and millennials who are entering their productive years.
According to the 2024-2028 Pension Fund Development and Strengthening Roadmap, the density rate of the pension fund industry at the end of 2023 was only 18.94 percent of the total 147.7 million workforce, based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Various financial planning studies also show that the earlier a person starts preparing pension funds, the smaller the contribution burden required to achieve future pension targets. However, awareness among the younger generation regarding the importance of pension funds remains relatively low, as retirement is not yet considered a priority need.
