Sinarmas AM Launches Indonesia's First Digital DPLK, Targets 15,000 Participants This Year
PT Sinarmas Asset Management (Sinarmas AM) has officially launched the Sinarmas Asset Management Pension Fund Financial Institution (DPLK SAM), marking a significant milestone as the first DPLK in Indonesia established by an investment manager. The launch event took place in the Main Hall of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in Jakarta on Friday. DPLK SAM received its legal authorisation from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) on 5 June 2026. Sinarmas AM, the founding company, is a top-five investment manager in Indonesia, recording total Assets Under Management of Rp 64.8 trillion as of February 2026, sourced from 34 mutual fund products, DIREs, and discretionary fund management contracts. The company serves clients through 23 branch offices nationwide. The launch was attended by Yulianto Aji Sadono, Director of Transaction and Compliance Supervision at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, alongside Sinarmas AM’s Board of Commissioners and Directors, and the management of DPLK SAM. President Director of Sinarmas AM, Alex Setyawan W.K., stated that the launch is a strategic move to expand financial inclusion and strengthen the long-term investment ecosystem. He noted that the initiative is a real contribution to bolstering the financial resilience of Indonesians by offering a modern, easily accessible digital pension service relevant to the needs of today’s generation. The national pension industry has long faced challenges with low public participation. With a population exceeding 280 million and a workforce of over 150 million, the number of pension programme participants remains relatively small, and many informal and self-employed workers lack any planned retirement scheme. The government and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) are actively promoting financial literacy and retirement preparedness as part of the national development agenda towards the ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’ vision. DPLK SAM primarily targets companies within the Sinar Mas business pillars, other private companies, and individual workers in both the formal and informal sectors through a Defined Contribution Pension Programme (PPIP). To achieve its goals, the institution will expand its marketing through its digital application and partner distribution networks. With the tagline ‘Your Trusted Partner for a Prosperous Old Age’, DPLK SAM is supported by a dedicated professional team. Its vision is to become a trusted pillar in realising financial independence for Indonesians in retirement through secure and technology-based pension fund management. The institution’s core principles include promoting early retirement planning awareness, providing inclusive and accessible pension products suited to modern lifestyles, and integrating digital technology for efficient, transparent, and reliable services. DPLK SAM offers products such as the PPIP for individual participants, PPIP and Post-Employment Compensation Funds for institutional participants, periodic pension benefit payments, and children’s education funds. It distinguishes itself through the digital platform SimPensiun, which allows the public to register, monitor funds, change investment options, and disburse pension benefits entirely online. This digital approach is designed to reach younger generations, particularly Gen Z and millennials entering their productive years. According to the 2024-2028 Pension Fund Development and Strengthening Roadmap, Indonesia’s pension fund density rate at the end of 2023 was only 18.94 percent of the 147.7 million workforce. Financial planning studies show that starting pension investments early significantly reduces the future contribution burden, yet awareness among the youth remains low as retirement is often not seen as a priority. The Chairman of DPLK SAM, Stephanus Rudi Ok., noted that changes in work patterns and the lifestyles of younger generations require a new approach in the pension fund industry, as the younger generation is very close to digital technology and has different investment characteristics compared to previous generations.
