Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Sinar Mas Muslim Foundation (YMSM) is collaborating with Muhammadiyah and the TNI to donate 1,000 copies of the Quran to the outermost islands of Indonesia.

“Hopefully, during this Ramadan, our brothers and sisters will have more opportunities to engage in Tadarus (Quran recitation) to understand and appreciate the values contained in the Quran,” said YMSM Board of Trustees member Marsetio in an official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The symbolic handover was given to the Commander of the Indonesian Naval Fleet (Pangkoarmada RI), Rear Admiral TNI Denih Hendrata, in Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta.

According to Marsetio, the Indonesian Navy will assist in distributing all the donated Qurans to places of worship on several Indonesian warships (KRI), naval bases, and naval housing, including those located on the outermost islands.

Meanwhile, YMSM Chairman Saleh Husin stated that the usefulness of printed Qurans is still difficult to replace with other forms due to their ease of use and durability.

“Especially in use in the forefront and outermost areas,” said Saleh.

The Quran Waqf is a routine activity of YMSM by partnering with various business pillars under Sinar Mas. To date, with the support of APP Group, 1.4 million copies have been distributed since 2008 to various corners of the country.

The initiative to donate Qurans through the Indonesian Navy has also been carried out previously in 2021 and 2024. YMSM continues to be committed to facilitating open, tolerant, equal, and compassionate Islamic practices.
