Marking Eid al-Adha 1447 AH, Sinar Mas Land’s Muslim Foundation (YMSML) distributed 482 sacrificial animals simultaneously on Wednesday, 27 May. The aid was delivered to mosques near the company’s development projects across various regions in Indonesia.

This year’s distribution comprises 34 cows, 384 goats, and 64 sheep, targeting areas including BSD City, Grand City Balikpapan, Wisata Bukit Mas and Klaska Residence Surabaya, Grand Wisata Bekasi, Kota Wisata & Legenda Wisata Cibubur, Kota Deltamas Cikarang, Karawang International Industrial City (KIIC), and ITC Group.

A symbolic handover was conducted by YMSML’s Chairman Saleh Husin and Treasurer Bunyamin at three main locations: Baitul Mukhtar Grand Mosque, Raudhatul Jannah Mosque, and the Islamic Center Mosque in BSD City. Alongside the sacrifice distribution, YMSML also held Eid al-Adha prayers at Baitul Mukhtar Grand Mosque, which accommodates up to 7,000 worshippers.

YMSML Chairman Bambang Setiawan stated that Eid al-Adha serves as an opportunity to strengthen social compassion. ‘Through this sacrifice distribution, YMSML aims to make a tangible contribution to communities around the company’s development areas. This is part of our ongoing commitment to fostering harmonious social relationships,’ he said.

This year’s social initiative prioritises environmental sustainability, with sacrificial meat distributed in bamboo baskets instead of single-use plastic. This move implements the ‘Plastic-Free Blessing Sacrifice’ programme, aligning with the Green Habit: Less Plastic campaign, as the company commits to reducing plastic use for sustainable development.

The sacrificial animal programme has been a regular part of Sinar Mas Land’s religious-focused CSR since 2004, with tens of thousands of animals distributed to date. Additionally, YMSML actively runs other initiatives such as the ‘Quranic Endowment for the Nation’, ‘Eradicating Quranic Illiteracy’, and mosque renovations near company operations.
