Sinar Mas Land and PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk have established a strategic partnership to strengthen telecommunications infrastructure and introduce 5G networks in the BSD City region. The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a cooperation agreement between PT Serpong Mas Telematika (SMT), a subsidiary of Sinar Mas Land, and Telkom on Wednesday 11 March at Sinar Mas Land Plaza in BSD City.

Under the agreement, Telkom will serve as the provider of telecommunications infrastructure, partnering with PT SMT to utilise fibre optic networks. This infrastructure will support FTTH (Fibre to the Home) and FTTX services for IndiHome, IndiBiz, and dedicated internet products, as well as provide transport networks for Telkomsel’s Base Transceiver Station (BTS) through fibre optic connections.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Kiem An Andy, Chief Operating Officer of Fibre Optic, Mining and Infrastructure at Sinar Mas Land, and Ekadiah Finandiarsi, Senior Manager of Regional Wholesale Service at Telkom Regional II, witnessed by Nanang Hendarno (Director of Network at Telkom Indonesia), Edie Kurniawan (Executive Vice President Telkom Regional II), Irvan Yasni (CEO of Technology Advisory and Business at Sinar Mas Land), Himawan Setiawan (AVP Infrastructure Operation at Sinar Mas Land), and Rama Devy Simbolon (VP Regulation and Business Advocacy at Sinar Mas Land).

“The collaboration between Telkom and Sinar Mas Land represents a strategic step in strengthening telecommunications infrastructure and delivering more reliable digital connectivity to the BSD City region,” said Edie Kurniawan, EVP Telkom Regional II. “Through the utilisation of fibre optic networks for FTTH and FTTX services, as well as Telkomsel BTS transport, we hope that residents and business operators in BSD City can enjoy faster, more stable, and integrated service quality. The introduction of 5G networks also reflects Telkom Indonesia’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation across strategic regions throughout Indonesia.”

Kiem An Andy, Chief Operating Officer of Fibre Optic, Mining and Infrastructure at Sinar Mas Land, stated: “As a region continuously developing into an integrated smart digital city, Sinar Mas Land is committed to delivering infrastructure that supports sustainable digital transformation. Through collaboration with Telkom, we are optimistic that BSD City can continue to be a conducive ecosystem for technological advancement, digital economics, and innovation in Indonesia. With the introduction of 5G networks in BSD City, we hope to enhance customer experience for business operators, creative communities, area residents, and the startup ecosystem, enabling them to benefit from faster, more stable, and reliable connectivity.”

The cooperation agreement signals the expansion of Telkom’s 5G network coverage in BSD City, which will be rolled out in phases beginning this year. As a self-contained city spanning approximately 6,000 hectares, BSD City is developing into an integrated smart digital city that combines residential, business, education, technology, and lifestyle ecosystems within a unified area.

City development is supported by various technology-based infrastructure and solutions, including high-capacity fibre optic networks, Internet of Things (IoT) implementation, digital-based security and area monitoring systems, and data-driven city service development that enhances mobility efficiency, security, and public comfort.

Sinar Mas Land has also established a Digital Hub serving as an innovation centre that brings together global technology companies, startups, and digital talent within a collaborative ecosystem.

Through digital infrastructure development, high-speed connectivity, and collaboration with various global technology companies, BSD City continues to strengthen its position as a major centre of innovation and digital economic growth in Indonesia. These initiatives are expected to create a connected, efficient, and sustainable future city environment whilst improving public quality of life and supporting national digital economy development.
