Indonesia’s digital infrastructure sector is gaining momentum again. PT SMPlus Digital Investama (SM+), backed by the Sinar Mas conglomerate, has formally signed an agreement to acquire the Indonesian data-centre business of Singapore-based Princeton Digital Group (PDG). The move strengthens the group’s presence in an increasingly crucial technology industry, according to a report on Monday (12 October 2026).

The transaction covers five operating data-centre facilities in strategic locations: Greater Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Pekanbaru.

PDG originally acquired the assets when it entered the Indonesian market in 2019. During its ownership, it invested in and upgraded the facilities to meet surging demand for data storage and processing.

SM+ is an investment platform for digital infrastructure and services fully backed by Sinar Mas.

PDG stressed that the disposal does not mean it is withdrawing from Indonesia. Rather, it forms part of the company’s long-term strategy.

“Since PDG was founded, our strategy has been to enter a market, establish a strong operational presence, and then expand to achieve scale. In Indonesia, we entered the market by acquiring an established data-centre portfolio, while investing to broaden our capabilities and build a hyperscale business,” PDG chief executive Rangu Salgame said.

PDG has developed large-scale data-centre campuses with a total capacity of 400 MW, comprising JC2, JC3 and JC4. These facilities are specifically designed to meet the needs of major technology companies requiring substantial space and power.

“We plan to continue investing in our expansion. This transaction is a natural step in continuing to serve the growing needs of our hyperscale customers in Indonesia and across the Asia-Pacific region,” Salgame added.

SM+ (or SM Plus) is an investment vehicle for digital infrastructure and services backed by Sinar Mas through PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA). The company previously announced a partnership with South Korea to establish an AI data centre, named SMX01, in Jakarta.
