Sinaksak-Simpang Panei Toll Road Operates Free of Charge
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat (Kutepat) Toll Road Section 4 Dolok Merawan-Pematang Siantar Segment Sinaksak-Simpang Panei, spanning 12.55 kilometres, has officially begun operations. This was announced by the Toll Road Regulatory Body (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works (PU) via its official Instagram account @pupr_bujt, as quoted on Tuesday (12/05/2026). The toll road can still be traversed without charge or for free since 1 May 2026 at 07.00 WIB. The Sinaksak-Simpang Panei toll road is equipped with 4 VMS units, 20 CCTV units, 32 personnel guarding the toll road, and 16 vehicles as standby fleet. For information, the Kutepat Toll Road stretches approximately 136.81 kilometres and has five sections, with the following details: Quoted from the official Hamawas website, this toll road will connect the backbone route of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) and the feeder route to Kuala Tanjung Port and towards the Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) Lake Toba. In addition, these two sections will reduce travel time for the public, which previously from Medan to Kuala Tanjung took 2 hours to become 1 hour. Meanwhile, from Medan to Sinaksak which previously took 3 hours, with the toll road it will only take 1.5 hours.
