SIMs Expiring During Eid al-Adha Granted Extension Until 30 May
Jakarta, Kompas.com – The Jakarta Regional Police Traffic Directorate has begun a dispensation period for driver’s licence ( SIM) extensions for citizens whose licenses expired during the Eid al-Adha public holiday in 1447 Hijriah. The dispensation period runs from Thursday, 28 May 2026, to Saturday, 30 May 2026. Those whose SIMs expired on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, can still renew their licenses through the standard procedure without needing to apply for a new SIM. ‘BPKb services closed on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, and will reopen on Thursday, 28 May 2026,’ stated Jakarta Regional TrafficPolice on their official social media (27 May 2026). The public is urged to make use of the dispensation period before the deadline expires on Saturday, 30 May 2026, as exceeding this period would require reapplying for a new SIM from scratch, including all procedures such as theory and practical tests. The policy aims to accommodate citizens unable to access vehicle and driver administrative services during the public holiday. According to Faisal, the regulation is outlined in Korlantas Polri Telegram Letter No. ST/269/II/YAN.1.1./2022. ‘Regarding SIM extensions, for applicants whose SIMs expire on a public holiday, the extension can be processed on the following working day,’ Faisal told Kompas.com recently.
