'SimPATI' available on-line

JAKARTA (JP): People using simPATI prepaid GSM cards of Telkomsel will soon be able to refill their cards electronically via the Internet.

The new service, being prepared by Telkomsel in collaboration with Interactive Mall2000 and CommerceNet, is expected to be available in May.

"We'll see the proliferation of e-commerce in every kind of business transaction. That's why we planned this service," said Telkomsel's president Mulia P. Tambunan.

He said that the service will be accessible via www.telkomsel.com or www.i-mall2000.com, where simPATI users can complete transactions with their Visa or Master credit cards.

Interactive Mall2000 is run by PT Alas Buana Grafindotama of the GSK Group which focuses on Information Technology. I-Mall2000 sees some 800 hits and 400 visits with up to 15 transactions daily, according to Alas's president Sianny Gunawan.

Telkomsel has currently 1.1 million subscribers, 600,000 of which are simPATI users. (icn)
