Simon Grayson joins Indonesian national team coaching staff
Jakarta – English coach Simon Grayson has announced his appointment as assistant coach for the Indonesian national football team for upcoming international fixtures during the FIFA international window in late March 2026.
Through a post on his personal Instagram account, Grayson expressed enthusiasm for this new experience with the Garuda squad.
“I am delighted to join the Indonesian national team as an assistant coach for the upcoming matches during the FIFA window against Bulgaria and St Kitts and Nevis in Jakarta,” Grayson stated in his post.
He added that working at national team level represents an important development in his coaching career after many years managing club teams, particularly in England.
“I am very much looking forward to working with head coach John Herdman and his staff. This is a new experience I have long anticipated after spending so long managing teams, especially in England,” he said.
Grayson believes his involvement at national team level will prove invaluable and enhance his capabilities as a coach.
“Being involved at the national team level will certainly develop me further as a coach,” he stated.
Grayson is known for his extensive coaching career in English football, having managed numerous clubs and most recently the fifth-tier National League side Hartlepool United. Before becoming a coach in 2005, the 56-year-old had a long playing career in English football.
