Simeulue Regency Receives 15 Cows from President Prabowo
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Simeulue Regency Government in Aceh Province has received assistance in the form of 15 cows valued at Rp250 million from President Prabowo Subianto for the Meugang Idul Fitri tradition in 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE in the island regency.
Simeulue Regent Muhammad Nasrun Mikaris, in Simeulue on Friday, stated that the cow assistance for the Meugang Idul Fitri tradition is being distributed to ten sub-districts in Simeulue Regency.
“The Simeulue Regency Government has received cow assistance for the Meugang tradition for the second time. Previously, the President also provided cows for the Meugang Ramadan tradition in 1447 Hijriah,” he said.
Meugang is a tradition of the Acehnese people ahead of Ramadan, as well as Idul Fitri and Idul Adha. In this tradition, the community purchases and consumes more beef, buffalo, or goat meat than usual. The tradition has been observed since the sultanate era, particularly during the time of Sultan Iskandar Muda.
Muhammad Nasrun Mikaris expressed thanks to the President of the Republic of Indonesia for providing cow assistance for the Meugang tradition of the communities in the islands in the Indian Ocean.
The Regent mentioned that the President’s donated cows are being distributed to South Teupah Sub-district, East Simeulue Sub-district, Central Simeulue Sub-district, West Simeulue Sub-district, and Salang Sub-district, with two heads each.
“We remind the sub-district governments to distribute the meat from the President’s donated cows to the communities entitled to receive it,” said Muhammad Nasrun Mikaris.
East Simeulue Sub-district Head Ali Afwan stated that the President’s donated cows are being distributed to entitled communities in the form of meat for the Meugang Idul Fitri tradition in 1447 Hijriah.
“This assistance from the President helps ease the burden on the community in obtaining meat during the Meugang Idul Fitri tradition. On behalf of the community, we express our thanks to the President,” said Ali Afwan.
Simeulue Regency is an outermost island region in Aceh Province. Simeulue Island is located in the Indian Ocean, approximately 180 nautical miles from the western coast of Sumatra Island.
