Simeulue Regency Allocates Rp1.3 Billion for Ferry Port Road Repairs

The Simeulue Regency Government, through the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Agency, has allocated a budget of Rp1.3 billion for the repair of the road leading to the ferry port, which is currently in a severely damaged condition.

Simeulue Regent Mohammad Nasrun Mikaris stated that the road repair is scheduled for this year and is expected to be completed on time. “The PUPR Agency will immediately carry out the repairs on the road to the ferry port connecting Simeulue Island to the Aceh mainland. The budget of Rp1.3 billion has been allocated,” he said.

The Regent emphasised that the road repair is urgently needed by the community, as the current damaged and potholed condition is causing difficulties for residents travelling to the port.

Head of the Simeulue PUPR Agency, Samsuar, explained that the repair budget is sourced from the 2026 Aceh Special Autonomy Fund (DOKA). The scope of work includes the installation of gabions, embankment filling, and resurfacing of the road. “We will carry out the repairs as soon as possible so that community activities to the port are no longer disrupted,” Samsuar added.

Simeulue Regency is an outer island region in Aceh Province, located in the Indian Ocean approximately 180 nautical miles from the western coast of Sumatra. Established in 1999 as a division of West Aceh Regency, Simeulue consists of 10 sub-districts and 138 villages, with a population of around 96,000 people.
