Singapore-based Silver Media Group has partnered with Indonesian boxing legend Chris John to develop a new animated series titled ‘Dragon’s Dojo’, according to a Variety report on Monday. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with John to develop the series, a vertical animation designed specifically for mobile devices and inspired by Indonesian folklore. The collaboration brings together Silver Media Group, Chris John, television executive Harun Kurniawan, and Koollab Studios for the project, which marks the first chapter of the ASERYA Asian Mythology Franchise. ‘Dragon’s Dojo’ will serve as the launchpad for the ASERYA Universe, an interconnected Asian mythology franchise spanning animation, comics, games, and merchandise. ‘Dragon’s Dojo is the beginning of that journey in Indonesia; this project combines the legacy of a true champion like Chris John with the power of mythology, action, and storytelling imbued with life values,’ said Chan Gin Kai, founder and CEO of Silver Media Group. The ASERYA story universe blends real-world figures with young protagonists and incorporates folklore and mythical creatures from across Asia to introduce Asian narratives to a global audience. In ‘Dragon’s Dojo’, Chris John appears as an animated character serving as head instructor and mentor at the Dragon’s Dojo martial arts academy, guiding young people facing life’s hardships. ‘Throughout my career, boxing has taught me that the greatest victories are not only won in the ring, but also when we overcome the challenges we face every day,’ John said. He added that the series will present these values through the exciting adventures of young people discovering strength, purpose, and courage while exploring the richness of Indonesian mythology. Harun Kurniawan noted that the series offers an opportunity to package Indonesian stories, legends, and cultural heritage in a contemporary format and introduce them to audiences worldwide. ‘We are creating a work that reflects Indonesian pride while being part of a much broader Asian storytelling universe,’ he said. The animated series is currently in development, with details regarding production and release schedule yet to be announced. Koollab Studios co-founder Oliver Guse described ‘Dragon’s Dojo’ as an exciting opportunity to combine creative vision with new production possibilities and bring the richness of Indonesian culture and mythology to a global audience.
