Silmy Karim Case: Bribery Amounts Disguised Using Band Member Codes
Other codes used musical group concert payments, such as ‘vocalist’ receiving a certain amount, ‘guitarist’ receiving another, ‘backing vocalist’ receiving a specific sum, and ‘choreographer’ receiving a particular amount. These codes were used to differentiate and represent the flow of money to specific parties, stated KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto during a press conference at the KPK building, Jakarta, on Thursday (4/6/2026).
Furthermore, the funds were used by the parties involved for personal interests, the purchase of assets, and business activities, such as establishing a towing company, to disguise the receipt of the money.
It is reported that Silmy Karim has been officially detained by the KPK. In addition to Silmy, seven other individuals have been named as suspects. Silmy and his associates are charged under articles related to extortion and gratification. Investigators have also seized various pieces of evidence, including foreign currency in the form of US Dollars and Singapore Dollars, as well as precious metals and several vehicles.
A total of eight individuals have been detained in this case, including Silmy Karim. The list of detainees is as follows:
