SilkAir scraps Padang flights
BANGKOK: Singapore Airlines Ltd.'s regional unit SilkAir said on
Monday it scrapped flights to Krabi in Thailand and Padang in
Indonesia "following a strategic review of its network
operations."
SilkAir will stop flying twice a week to Padang starting Feb.
23 and Krabi on March 1. The two resort locations were affected
by the Dec. 26 tsunami.
"Both Thailand and Indonesia will continue to remain a vital
part of SilkAir's network," through other airports, the airline
said in a statement to the Singapore exchange.
Tourists have shunned beaches hit by the Dec. 26 tsunami that
was triggered across the Indian Ocean by a magnitude-9 earthquake
off the coast of Indonesia. -- Bloomberg
