Police have unveiled the murder case of Ermanto Usman, a retired employee of Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), at his residence in Bekasi, West Java. Police also seized a number of pieces of evidence.

A series of exhibits were presented in the press conference room of the Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Directorate headquarters on Wednesday (11 March 2026). Notably, one piece of evidence was a crowbar, identified as the tool used by the perpetrator to murder the victim.

In addition to the crowbar, other evidence included cash, three mobile phones, one laptop, and one pair of scissors. All exhibits have been seized by police.

“From initial interrogation, the perpetrator struck the victim with a crowbar and disposed of the crowbar in an empty lot in front of the victim’s house,” said Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Director Kombes Iman Imanuddin to journalists on Tuesday (10 March).

The incident occurred on Monday (2 March). The perpetrator was eventually arrested by the Jakarta Metro Police Mobile Unit at 18:54 on Monday (9 March) in Cilincing, North Jakarta.

Previously, Ermanto and his wife were first discovered covered in blood by their son. Initially, the victim’s son was usually woken up by his parents for pre-dawn prayers. However, on the day of the incident, he was not woken up until 04:00 WIB.

At that time, the son could still hear his mother’s voice briefly. However, when the son approached, the bedroom door was already damaged and could not be opened.

“Eventually he went out to ask the neighbours for help. There were no neighbours around, it was empty because it was early morning. He then called his family, and when they arrived, he forced open the window,” said Metro Bekasi Police Criminal Investigation Chief Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal on Monday (2 March).

When discovered, Ermanto Usman was already deceased and covered in blood. His wife sustained severe injuries and is currently in critical condition at hospital.
