Sihanouk to visit Indonesia

JAKARTA (JP): Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk will pay a state visit to Indonesia from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2, on President Soeharto's invitation.

"The visit aims at strengthening the relations between the two countries because Indonesia has played an important role in the Cambodian peace making process," counselor of the Cambodian embassy, Sry Thamarong, said, Antara reported yesterday.

Among his 21-strong delegation will be the Cambodian foreign minister, government advisers and members of the royal family, Thamarong said.

During his visit Sihanouk is scheduled to hold talks with Soeharto, visit the Kalibata hero cemetery in South Jakarta and the Indonesia in Miniature Park in East Jakarta.

Sihanouk's good relations with Indonesian officials dates back to the late president Sukarno.
