Signs Petition, JK Calls for Fair Resolution of Hotel Sultan Dispute

Tenth and twelfth Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), has signed the ‘Reject the Seizure of Hotel Sultan’ petition in response to the land dispute between Hotel Sultan and GBK.

JK stated that the land dispute case concerns not only asset ownership but also legal certainty and justice for society.

He stressed that the resolution of the Hotel Sultan land dispute must prioritise principles of justice and dialogue, rather than unilateral measures.

“Issues like this must not be resolved unilaterally. There must be fair dialogue to avoid harming all parties,” he said during the petition launch on Wednesday (1/4).

He reminded that if the land dispute is not resolved fairly, it could have broad implications for public trust and the business world.

“If it is not resolved fairly, this could lead to distrust and impact the business climate,” he explained.

In addition to JK, several other figures also signed the petition, from Din Syamsuddin and Amir Syamsuddin to Hamdan Zoelva.

Hamdan, who is also the legal representative of PT Indobuildco, emphasised that the petition is not intended to prolong the conflict. Rather, he said, it is to create space for dialogue with the government.

“This is not against the state, but against injustice. We hope there will be space for dialogue so that this issue can be resolved fairly,” he stated.

In the petition, the figures conveyed five main points:

First, reject all forms of seizure of Hotel Sultan without legal basis and without a court decision that has final legal force.

Second, reject business restrictions and licence revocations in the midst of ongoing legal processes, as this harms legal certainty.

Third, reject unilateral designation of the area as part of HPL without legal basis and without a valid court decision.

Fourth, affirm that state takeover must go through legal mechanisms with compensation provided to the rightful owners.

Fifth, reject power interventions in the legal process and execution without a court decision that has final legal force.

Previously, the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) conducted a konstatering or verification of the disputed object data as a follow-up to the planned execution of the Hotel Sultan Jakarta land on Monday (16/3).

Based on observations by CNNIndonesia.com, this konstatering was attended by parties from PN Jakpus, the State Secretariat Ministry and the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK) as the execution applicants, the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry/National Land Agency up to the police.
