Significant Surge: Trans-Jakarta Serves 1.1 Million Passengers During Eid Special Fare Period
Trans-Jakarta recorded more than 1.1 million passengers over two days of the special Rp1 fare implementation on 21–22 March 2026, with the highest peak on 22 March reaching 697,519 passengers in a single day. The Head of Public Relations and CSR for Trans-Jakarta, Ayu Wardhani, stated that this significant increase is inseparable from the low-fare policy implemented by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, while also reflecting the high level of public trust in public transportation services. “This surge shows that the public is increasingly relying on public transport for mobility during important moments, such as family visits or tourism during Eid. The Rp1 fare policy on 21–22 March is a form of appreciation so that people celebrating Eid in Jakarta can enjoy safe, comfortable, and highly affordable journeys,” Ayu said in her statement on Thursday (25/3). The day before, the number of passengers was still at 438,028. However, within 24 hours, the figure jumped sharply, marking a shift in residents’ mobility patterns who chose to be active within the city during the long holiday period. Passenger density was also monitored to be concentrated at several transportation nodes and strategic areas. The Bundaran HI Astra halt became the densest point with 8,910 passengers, followed by Ragunan (8,075), Juanda (6,842), Blok M (6,537), and Kalideres (5,590). These locations are known as main accesses to activity centres, tourist areas, and intermodal transit points. Not only on the BRT corridors, but surges also occurred on non-BRT services connecting buffer zones. The Bogor–Blok M route recorded the highest number with 7,047 passengers, followed by Pantai Maju–Balai Kota (6,046), Poris Plawad–Petamburan (5,798), PIK 2–Blok M (4,917), and Ciputat–CSW (4,595). Ayu emphasised that amid this surge, TransJakarta not only focused on adding service capacity but also on maintaining the quality of the user journey. “Our focus is not only on increasing capacity, but ensuring that the passenger experience remains safe and comfortable amid this extraordinary enthusiasm,” she concluded.
