Significant surge in vehicles on MBZ toll road recorded seven days before Eid al-Fitr
Bekasi — PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC) reported a significant surge in vehicle traffic on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) elevated toll road on Saturday, 14 March 2026, seven days before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
“Vehicle traffic volume on the MBZ elevated toll road has shown significant increases since Saturday evening,” said Desti Anggraeni, General Manager of Operations and Maintenance at PT JJC, in Bekasi, West Java, on Sunday.
She stated that 42,718 vehicles were recorded leaving Jakarta via the MBZ elevated toll road, representing a 41.23 per cent increase compared to normal daily traffic of 30,247 vehicles.
“The increase in vehicle volume occurred throughout the day, with the most significant surge during the evening, reaching 196.69 per cent compared to normal conditions,” she said.
Traffic increases towards Jakarta occurred in the morning by 22.25 per cent and in the evening by 11.54 per cent, whilst during the afternoon a decrease of 7.45 per cent was recorded compared to normal conditions.
Anggraeni noted that the data indicated vehicle movement on the MBZ elevated toll road was beginning to increase as the Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday approached.
Despite the elevated volumes, overall traffic conditions remained smooth and controlled with the support of intensive traffic monitoring and operational staff readiness in the field.
Road users were urged to ensure both drivers and vehicles were in optimal condition, maintain adequate fuel reserves, and anticipate potential weather changes, particularly rainfall, which could affect visibility and road surface conditions.
“Prioritise safety, rest if fatigued, and may your journey be safe and comfortable until you reach your destination,” she said.
