Jakarta (ANTARA) - The joint venture between Honda and GAC in China has implemented price reductions for its Accord e:PHEV plug-in hybrid sedan model, amounting to 100,000 yuan, equivalent to IDR 244.8 million, in an effort to attract public attention.

CarnewsChina reported on Friday that this price reduction brings the Honda Accord’s price down to 138,800 yuan (IDR 339,790,728).

However, the company stated that this price is only applicable to the first 1,000 customers who complete the purchase transaction for the vehicle.

Market performance data from the past few months has shown a decline in volume for the brand. Therefore, the company must strive to gain the attention of automotive consumers in China to encourage them to purchase GAC Honda vehicles.

According to production and sales disclosures released in January 2026 by the parent company, GAC Group, GAC Honda only managed to sell 4,558 vehicles that month, representing a year-on-year decrease of 69.86 percent.

In contrast, the GAC Aion electric vehicle brand experienced positive growth, reporting sales of 21,600 units in January, an increase of 171.63 percent from the previous year.

In this competitive context, the price reduction on the established joint venture sedan coincides with the increasing availability of plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles from domestic manufacturers with similar price ranges.

GAC Honda stated that the discounted Accord e:PHEV units are part of a limited promotion to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the global Accord.
