Significance of Bogor pact

We opt to take the course toward market economy with a
critical view. We do not take this choice of stance alone, but
with other countries.

The road toward trade liberalization is long and winding.
Cooperation among countries is a pre-requisite, especially
assistance from developed to developing countries in the fields
of trade and investment, infrastructure, human resource
development, research in science and technology and development
of medium and small scale entrepreneurs.

It is pertinent for government officials and businessmen to
understand the significance of the Bogor accord in order to
follow it up with concrete measures.

In a free trade atmosphere our economy should be more
competitive and protection or monopoly has no place. Our economy
should give equal opportunities to all.

This will not be achieved without a cost. Those who have so
far enjoyed protection and monopolies must relinquish them. But,
do not think that all these things will be accomplished
arbitrarily. All changes will occur in good order. And it will
take time, so that we can prepare ourselves accordingly.
