Signed: Public Minibuses Over 20 Years Old Banned from Operating in Bogor City

Bogor Mayor Didie A Rachim has officially signed a regulation restricting the technical age of urban transport vehicles (angkot). Angkots older than 20 years are now formally prohibited from operating in Bogor City.

“Today we signed the Perwali on the restriction of the technical age of urban transport, accompanied by steps for direct enforcement later through joint operations, to ensure that urban transport vehicles over 20 years old are no longer allowed to operate in Bogor City,” said Dedie on Monday (15/6/2026).

Dedie stated that the operational age restriction is part of an effort to reorganise transportation. This measure follows up on public complaints regarding vehicle bunching and angkots stopping arbitrarily or lingering (ngetem).

“So the public’s hope is that there will be no more bunching of transport vehicles, no more arbitrary lingering. Technically and officially, starting today we are implementing stricter restriction measures,” Dedie said.

“Regarding other matters for the future, these are also being addressed gradually. We are calculating how many transport vehicles the public actually needs, and which routes we should maintain or close,” he added.

Bogor City Organda Chairman Sunaryana participated in the signing process of the age restriction regulation. Sunaryana noted that the angkot age restriction will be accompanied by a rejuvenation programme from the Bogor City Government.

“So, the technical age of the vehicle is already clear. The operators already understand, they know that 20 years means the end of operations. However, the mechanism will indeed have stages. So it won’t happen all at once; rejuvenation remains open,” said Sunaryana.

“Now, our focus, and Organda supports this, is for the comfort, safety, and security of transport users. The main priority is enforcing the 20-year technical age limit, full stop. So that is what we must implement first,” he added.
