Sigit wins Ibis chess tournament

JAKARTA (JP): University student Sigit Wijayanto won the grand final of the Ibis hotels student chess tournament held at Ibis Mangga Dua here on Sunday.

Sigit received Rp 5 million and an Ericsson cellular phone. He previously won the tournament at the Ibis Malioboro in Yogyakarta.

Runner-up Rosita Latief won Rp 2.5 million and an Ericsson cellular phone. In third was Robin Haryono, who received Rp 1.5 million.

Rosita won the event held at Ibis Slipi and Robin triumphed at Ibis Rajawali, Surabaya.

Six players, who were winners from preliminary competitions, took part in the Rp 15 million tournament. The other three competitors were Yundi Dwiguna, Ramli and Kiu Sen.

The tournament, which opened in September, was held at five Ibis hotels in Jakarta and one each in Surabaya and Yogyakarta. A competition was also held at Hotel Arcadia.

The five Ibis hotels in Jakarta are Ibis Kemayoran, Ibis Slipi, Ibis Tamarin, Ibis Mangga Dua and Ibis Cikarang. (lnt)
