Sigi (ANTARA) - The Sigi Regency government in Central Sulawesi has proposed expanding the land area for the construction of the People’s School in the region to 8 hectares. “So why hasn’t the People’s School in Sigi started being built yet? Because I proposed increasing the land from 6 hectares to 8 hectares, so that a stadium can be built at the same time at the People’s School site,” said Sigi Regent Moh Rizal Intjenae when met by journalists in Dolo on Friday. He stated that the construction of the People’s School building in Sigi Regency is planned to begin in early July 2026. “Of course, all the requirements for building the People’s School in Sigi are already in place; only some documents are still in the process,” he said. “Insya Allah, Sigi Regency is already on the list for People’s School construction this year, because there is currently a People’s School learning group (rombel) at the Nipotowe Centre owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs in Sigi,” he added. It is known that there are already two operational People’s Schools in Central Sulawesi, namely in Palu City and Sigi Regency. “The People’s School in Sigi has two junior secondary level (SMP) rombels, so the People’s School that will soon be built will start from primary (SD), junior secondary (SMP), and senior secondary (SMA) levels,” he said. Based on priority regulations, those who can enter the People’s School are children from poor families, school dropouts, including children listed in the National Single Social-Economic Data (DTSEN).
