Sigi (ANTARA) - The Sigi Regency Government, Central Sulawesi, has urged all Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) in the region to transparently report to the public regarding the use of funds for each portion of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

“Our suggestion to the local government is for the SPPGs in Sigi to socialise information regarding the budget for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) per portion to the public,” said the Vice Regent of Sigi, Samuel Yansen Pongi, when met by the media in Bora Village, Sigi, on Wednesday.

“Therefore, SPPGs must be open to the public regarding the budget for each MBG portion for school children, and it is also important for each SPPG’s nutritionist to provide education on the amount of nutrients in the food,” he said.

He added that if there are ingredients that have been set by the central government but are not available in the region, then substitutes with the same value and nutritional content should be found.

“Prioritise local products so that this good program can be felt by all parties,” he said.

According to him, during the month of Ramadan, the delivery of MBG must be done every day.

“Try to ensure that the MBG menu is not delivered in bulk for three days or a week, because food such as fruit can spoil quickly,” he said.

Based on data from the Palu Nutritional Fulfillment Service Office (KPPG), there are currently 16 SPPG units operating in Sigi Regency. These SPPGs are spread across the sub-districts of Sigi Biromaru, Nokilalaki, Kulawi, Gumbasa, Dolo Barat, Dolo, Kinovaro, and Marawola.
