Sigi Regency Government: Repair of lightly damaged homes to begin next week

The Sigi Regency Government in Central Sulawesi has confirmed that the process of handling and restoring homes with light and moderate damage caused by the earthquake in Nokilalaki and Palolo will enter a new phase starting next week. Deputy Regent Samuel Yansen Pongi stated that the finalisation of data collection for temporary housing needs for heavily damaged homes has been completed. “The handling of homes categorised as lightly and moderately damaged will be accommodated in the next stage,” Samuel said when met by journalists in Dolo on Saturday. He explained that the local government, through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), will immediately conduct socialisation with assessment teams regarding homes with light and moderate damage from the earthquake. According to data from the Sigi Earthquake Disaster Emergency Response Task Force, the total number of damaged homes is 4,012 units, consisting of 266 heavily damaged homes, 1,195 moderately damaged homes, and 2,551 lightly damaged homes. “The focus in the first and second phases was indeed on heavily damaged homes and places of worship, while this third phase is where we begin to handle the lightly and moderately damaged homes,” he said. He expressed hope that all residents whose homes suffered damage, whether light or moderate, can be properly registered to subsequently receive the appropriate assistance.
