Sigi Regency: Desa Cantik initiative boosts statistical literacy
Through strengthening village data governance, the local government is building a crucial foundation for regional progress and community welfare.
Sigi - The Sigi Regency Government in Central Sulawesi is promoting the Desa Cinta Statistik or Desa Cantik programme as a tangible step to enhance statistical literacy and data awareness in the region.
Regent Moh Rizal Intjenae emphasised the importance of village officials actively participating in statistical activities across their areas.
“Through the Desa Cantik initiative, each village will be able to produce statistical data and maintain the quality and comparability of statistical indicators,” Rizal said during the launch in Lolu on Monday.
He noted that data is now the cornerstone of regional development planning.
According to Rizal, without quality data, policies and development programmes would struggle to reach their targets, hence the Desa Cantik initiative aims to optimise the use and application of statistical data.
“This initiative aims to create statistical agents at the village level to ensure development is more effective, measurable, and truly addresses community needs,” he added.
Rizal stated that the Desa Cantik programme aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of building from the village level and grassroots to drive economic growth, equitable distribution, and poverty eradication.
“Strengthening village data governance is essential for regional advancement and community welfare,” he said.
Rizal urged all village officials to use data as the basis for planning and decision-making to ensure development is targeted, effective, and delivers tangible benefits for Sigi residents.
“The Desa Cantik launch marks the beginning of a strengthened statistical culture in villages; I call on all village officials and stakeholders to support and oversee this programme collectively,” he added.
Three villages – Lolu, Jono Oge, and Sidera – have been designated as Desa Cantik by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in Sigi Regency.
