Sigi Police's Nutritional Support Unit to Launch Free Meal Programme Next Week

Sigi (ANTARA) - The Nutritional Support Unit (SPPG) of the Sigi Police, Central Sulawesi, will begin operating next week to support the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme in the region.

The Head of the SPPG of the Sigi Police, Imam, said that in the initial phase, they would serve 1,215 beneficiaries in Maku Village, Dolo District.

“The total target number of beneficiaries at the SPPG of the Sigi Police is 2,705 people across 25 schools in Dolo District,” said Imam when met by the media in Dolo on Saturday.

He explained that there are 10 locations in the first phase that will receive the MBG programme in Maku Village, consisting of two kindergartens, four elementary schools, two junior high schools, one vocational school, and one village health centre.

“In the future, we want to ensure that all schools in Maku Village receive the MBG programme,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Sigi Police, AKBP Kari Amsah Ritonga, said that they would involve the local government through the Health Office and the Central Sulawesi Police’s health department to check the nutritional content of each meal before it is distributed to the schools.

“Of course, we all, including the local government, the National Nutrition Agency, the Health Office, and the Central Sulawesi Police’s health department, have a responsibility to carry out comprehensive monitoring of the implementation of the MBG programme, especially in Sigi Regency,” he said.

He added that it is important to carry out monitoring to prevent undesirable things from happening, such as food poisoning among students who receive the MBG programme.
