Sightings of Maung Flying to Cebu, Philippines, to Showcase at ASEAN Summit

The delivery of the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine tactical vehicle using a TNI Air Force Airbus A400M aircraft to Cebu, Philippines, has drawn particular attention following its use by President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto during the 48th ASEAN Summit on 7-8 May 2026. This step not only demonstrates the country’s security preparedness and logistical support but also showcases Indonesia’s trust in its domestic defence industry products for international forums. The presidential vehicle, produced by PT Pindad, arrived in Cebu on 4 May 2026. From the belly of the TNI AU Airbus A400M aircraft, the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine was transported directly from Indonesia to accompany President Prabowo’s mobility during the state agenda. The presence of the Maung in the Philippines attracted attention amid the line-up of vehicles from ASEAN member states’ delegations. Rather than imported or foreign state vehicles, President Prabowo chose a nationally produced vehicle as a representation of Indonesia’s strategic industry capabilities on the global stage. The white-coloured vehicle features an exclusive and masculine design. The Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine is the latest variant from the Maung family developed by PT Pindad. This vehicle is specifically designed from the MV3 platform as the official vehicle for the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, with high standards of security, comfort, and performance. “The use of the Maung at this international forum is not merely a means of transportation, but a symbol of national independence, self-confidence, and progress in Indonesia’s national industry. The Maung becomes a symbol of diplomacy. From within the country, for Indonesia, present on the world stage,” stated Deputy Cabinet Secretary Teddy in a written statement on 7 May 2026.
