SIG Secures Five Platinum Green Labels, Boosting Low-Emission Cement Products
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) is promoting the development of environmentally friendly building materials following the attainment of five Indonesia Green Label certificates with Platinum status from the Green Product Council Indonesia (GPCI). Corporate Secretary SIG Vita Mahreyni stated that this accomplishment reflects the company’s dedication to delivering low-emission cement products while supporting sustainable development. “The Indonesia Green Label certificate serves as proof that the building materials produced by SIG are not only guaranteed in terms of quality and standards but also assist customers in obtaining lower-emission products and building more responsibly,” Vita said in a statement from Jakarta on Tuesday. The five production facilities that received the certificates include the SIG plant in Tuban, PT Semen Tonasa in Pangkep, and the PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk plants in Narogong, Cilacap, and Lhoknga. According to Vita, SIG applies sustainability principles in its business strategy, including good mining practices, the utilisation of waste as alternative raw materials and fuels, and the development of renewable energy. The company also adopts digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the production process to enhance energy efficiency. Through these various initiatives, SIG can produce green cement with carbon emission levels up to 38 percent lower compared to conventional cement. Vita added that these environmentally friendly cement products are expected to support more environmentally responsible construction needs. “SIG’s green cement is a solution for low-carbon environmentally friendly construction, which is the work of the nation’s children as a form of care and commitment to the preservation of the environment and the earth,” she said. The company also encourages stakeholders to choose building materials that support environmental conservation.
