SIG Reintroduces Semen Kujang to the Market
A cement brand once well-known in West Java has returned to the market after a long absence. PT Semen Indonesia (SIG) is reintroducing Semen Kujuag, produced at the Narogong Plant in Bogor, West Java, marking its launch in Bandung last weekend in collaboration with Persib Bandung.
Semen Kujang has been marketed in West Java since 1975. The return of this brand aims to capture the West Java market, which maintains a high demand for cement within the construction and development sectors.
SIG President Director Indrieffouny Indra stated that the relaunch of Semen Kujang is a strategic move to reintroduce a product that holds a close connection with the people of West Java while simultaneously meeting regional market demands.
“For us, this is not merely about reintroducing a product, but rather the beginning of a new interaction and experience with our customers,” she said in an official statement on Wednesday (2/9/2026).
She added that SIG is leveraging local heritage within the Semen Kujang marketing strategy to align the product with the specific characteristics and requirements of the West Java market.
SIG Sales and Marketing Director Dicky Saelan noted that Semen Kujang has been present in West Java since 1975, and SIG is reintroducing the brand using the latest production technology.
Dicky explained that Semen Kujang is a Portland Composite Cement (PCC) type, compliant with SNI 7064:2022, produced by a SIG subsidiary at the Narogong Plant in West Java. The product features ‘Active Micro Particle’ technology, an innovation of micro-granules capable of filling material voids more optimally, resulting in denser, stronger, and more durable building structures.
“Semen Kujang is a source of pride for us as it presents innovation through a sustainable and environmentally friendly production process, offering strong adhesion, a smoother surface, and denser casting results,” he said.
The launch of Semen Kujang was attended by the board of directors and commissioners of SIG, distribution partners, and 387 building material stores from Purwakarta, Karawang, Subang, Sumedang, and Bandung.
As part of the launch series, SIG partnered with Persib Bandung through a ‘Meet & Greet’ session featuring players Beckham Putra, Adam Alis, and Patricio Matricardi.
During the event, SIG presented awards to 22 building material stores with the best sales performance in the West Java region. The award recipients also had the opportunity to participate in the Meet & Greet session with the Persib Bandung players.
Asni Arini (36), owner of TB Rama Daris in Sumedang, West Java, was one of the participants who won a Honda Beat motorcycle as a grand prize. According to Asni, since Semen Kujang returned to the market, numerous consumers have already begun searching for the product.
“The quality is proven; many people have known this brand for a long time,” she said.
The return of Semen Kujang increases the variety of cement brands available in the West Java market and demonstrates the manufacturer’s efforts to revitalise legacy brands to reach consumers in regional markets.
