SIG Expands into Soil Stabilisation Business Through Partnership with Taiheiyo
Indonesia’s geographical conditions, characterised by uneven terrain and varying elevations, present distinct challenges for the property and infrastructure sectors. PT Semen Indonesia Tbk (SIG) is capitalising on these natural conditions by developing a new business line focused on soil stabilisation facilities, as part of its broader strategy to become Indonesia’s leading, most comprehensive and sustainable building materials provider.
SIG has formalised this expansion through an official partnership with Japan-based Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, which possesses specialised expertise in soil stabilisation. “This collaboration aims to address challenges in the construction sector whilst creating new markets and opening up future growth opportunities,” stated SIG President and Chief Executive Officer Indrieffouny Indra in an official statement on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
The partnership was formalised through the execution of a Soil Stabilisation Business Agreement, signed by Indrieffouny Indra (SIG Chief Executive Officer), Rizki Kresno Edhie Hambali (PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk Chief Executive Officer), Mirza Whibowo Soenarto (PT Mitra Kiara Indonesia Chief Executive Officer), Yoshifumi Taura (Taiheiyo Cement Corporation President and Representative Director) and Makoto Nakano (PT Taiheiyo International Indonesia Chief Executive Officer).
Soil stabilisation, as explained by Indrieffouny, is a specialised material designed to compact soft soils, including expansive soils, peat, organic-rich soils, marine clays and clay shales. The soil stabilisation business collaboration between SIG and Taiheiyo Cement Corporation encompasses development, production, marketing and sales processes, involving business entities from both companies: PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk, PT Mitra Kiara Indonesia and Taiheiyo International Indonesia.
This collaboration represents an expansion of the existing cooperation between SIG and Taiheiyo Cement Corporation. The partnership will enhance SIG’s product and business portfolio, further solidifying its position as a leader in Indonesia’s building materials industry.
