Jakarta, VIVA – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming aims to accelerate the development of the port and production facilities of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) in Tuban Regency, East Java, to become a large-capacity cement export facility that adopts the latest technology to support efficient and sustainable export operations. He stated this during a visit to Tuban last Friday, accompanied by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Tuban Regent Aditya Halindra Faridzky, and SIG President Director Indrieffouny Indra together with the company’s management. The project is managed by SIG’s subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk. During the working visit, Gibran thanked the progress of the project, which has now reached 99 percent, and urged the company to maintain and even enhance environmental management standards and compliance. ”May it become operational soon and support the nation’s capability on the global stage and the sustainable development agenda, not only in Indonesia but also abroad,” Gibran said, as quoted in his statement, Saturday, 7 March 2026. In the visit, the Vice President inspected the dock features projected to be able to ship 500,000 to 1,000,000 tonnes of cement to international markets. The port and production facilities development project is part of a strategic collaboration between SIG through its subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk and Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, which has existed since 2021. With an investment value of Rp1.4 trillion, the project includes several port and factory facility developments. One of them is the upgrade of the Special Terminal capacity from 15,000 Deadweight Tonnage (DWT) to 50,000 DWT. The capacity increase is achieved by constructing a new jetty trestle and jetty platform connected to the existing jetty. To support production, the project also includes the development of facilities such as a blending silo system with a capacity of 8,000 tonnes, a clinker silo system of 15,000 tonnes, and two cement silo systems each of 18,000 tonnes. Additionally, the project involves installing transport facilities comprising a 4.1-km tube conveyor, a tripper conveyor, and a ship loader with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per hour (tph) to move bulk cement from the plant to ships berthed at the dock.
