SIG Empowers Village Community in Tuban, Fosters 36 MSMEs
PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering economic independence in village communities, evidenced by its success in nurturing 36 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Glondonggede Village, Tuban Regency. The figure reflects consistent annual growth, with 16 MSMEs established in 2022, 15 in 2023, and an additional five during the 2024–2025 period. This programme is part of SIG’s strategy to create shared value between the company and communities surrounding its operational areas. SIG Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni stated that MSME development is a primary focus for the company in strengthening the local economy. “SIG believes that the company’s success must align with improving community welfare. The MSME empowerment programme is one of our efforts to ensure surrounding communities can grow independently and competitively,” Vita said. The empowerment programme adopts an end-to-end approach, ranging from skills training and production facility assistance to marketing mentorship. This aligns with SIG’s sustainability direction, which positions social aspects as an integral part of sustainable business growth. The programme’s impact has been directly felt by residents. One MSME participant, Kusmiyatun, a smoked fish entrepreneur, revealed that SIG’s support improved her business quality. “Now the business premises are more comfortable and income has increased,” she said. The mentorship provided by SIG has also successfully expanded market access. Snack products developed by the community have now entered modern retail stores and souvenir centres in Tuban, generating monthly turnover reaching millions of rupiah and creating new jobs. This success reinforces SIG’s role as a building materials solutions company that focuses not only on business performance but also on inclusive economic development. As a state-owned enterprise with an extensive operational network across Indonesia, SIG consistently integrates social programmes into its sustainable corporate growth strategy. Moving forward, SIG will continue to broaden the impact of its community empowerment programme by encouraging MSMEs to upgrade, enhancing the competitiveness of local products, and strengthening the village economic ecosystem. Glondonggede Village is expected to become a model for sustainable, locally-based MSME development in Indonesia.
