SIG Drinksplus Technology Arrives in Indonesia, Opening Opportunities for Particulate Beverage Innovation
Beverage packaging technology continues to evolve to meet consumer demand for more diverse drinking experiences. In Indonesia, SIG has introduced SIG Drinksplus technology, which allows beverages with pieces or particulate ingredients to be packaged aseptically in carton packs. The technology is being used to support Diamond Cold Storage in launching a flavoured UHT milk containing nata de coco pieces. This product is the first locally produced UHT milk product in Indonesia to use SIG Drinksplus technology in aseptic carton packaging. SIG Drinksplus enables manufacturers to package beverages containing up to 10 percent particulate ingredients, such as nata de coco, fruit, grains, or oats. These pieces can be up to six millimetres in size. This innovation is significant because, until now, beverages with added pieces like nata de coco, jelly, or fruit chunks in Indonesia have typically been packaged in plastic or glass bottles. SIG Drinksplus technology, however, allows products with such added textures to be packaged in aseptic cartons. “SIG Drinksplus opens up a variety of new possibilities in beverage innovation. This launch with Diamond is the first in Indonesia and demonstrates how our flexible aseptic solutions can help brands deliver new product categories and experiences to consumers,” said Noer Wellington, Director of Commercial for SEA, South Korea & Japan at SIG, on Tuesday.
