Jakarta (ANTARA) - Rumah BUMN Rembang, managed by PT Semen Gresik, a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), is assisting Rembang batik SMEs in penetrating global markets.

“May there be even more SMEs succeeding in developing their businesses in the future, thereby contributing more to regional economic growth,” said SIG Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Through Rumah BUMN Rembang, Hawien Wilopo, a Lasem hand-drawn batik entrepreneur with the Gunung Kendil brand in Rembang, has received training and guidance, ranging from business management and optimisation of digital platforms for marketing to involvement in various exhibitions.

Her works have also frequently appeared at fashion shows, making the Batik Tulis Lasem Gunung Kendil brand more widely known.

Several prestigious exhibitions participated in include the Tong Tong Festival in The Hague, Netherlands in 2022, the Future SMEs Village Side Event G20 in Bali in 2022, the UMKM Bazaar at Sarinah in Jakarta in 2023, and Inacraft in Jakarta in 2024.

Optimisation of digital platforms has brought customers not only from Java but from across the Archipelago, such as Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Bali. Moreover, enthusiasts of her works come from abroad, including Germany, Belgium, Italy, Korea, and Japan.

To meet customer orders, Hawien Wilopo now employs seven workers to assist her. Even during peak order periods, she empowers the surrounding community.

Gunung Kendil Batik Tulis Lasem products, crafted with meticulous care, are priced between Rp200,000–Rp7 million for batik fabric, while ready-to-wear clothing ranges from Rp600,000 to Rp800,000.

“SIG, through Rumah BUMN Rembang, is committed to always accompanying SMEs so they can run their businesses professionally and leverage digital platforms, allowing their products to be reached nationally and internationally,” said Vita Mahreyni.
