SIG Accelerates Development, Supplies Eco-Friendly Construction Materials for People's Schools in Four Provinces

PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) is supporting the acceleration of the Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools) programme, a national priority project by the government to expand access to education, by supplying environmentally friendly construction materials in four provinces: Central Java, East Java, South Sulawesi, and North Maluku. Through its business portfolio, PT Varia Usaha Beton (VUB), SIG has supplied more than 28,000 cubic metres of ready-mix concrete and thousands of precast units to support the construction of educational facilities and dormitories, which are targeted to reach thousands of students across various regions in Indonesia. SIG Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni stated that the company’s involvement in the construction of Sekolah Rakyat is part of its commitment to supporting the improvement of Indonesia’s human resources quality by providing superior and sustainable construction materials. ‘Education is a crucial foundation for building a superior generation as the pillar of the nation’s future. To create a safe, comfortable, and effective learning environment, educational facilities require good quality and highly durable construction,’ Vita said in a statement on Friday, 3 July 2026. Since December 2025, VUB has supplied 28,582 cubic metres of ready-mix concrete, 52,170 metres of piles, 27,195 square metres of paving blocks, 1,544 U-ditch units, 2,502 U-ditch covers, 2,766 panel fences, and 524 columns. The supply of construction materials will continue until all project work is completed. The government’s accelerated development of Sekolah Rakyat requires a reliable and sustainable supply of high-quality building materials to ensure the projects are completed on time with safe and comfortable construction standards for students. In this project, VUB supplies ready-mix concrete for the main building structures and various precast concrete products for supporting infrastructure, including square piles, U-ditches, U-ditch covers, box culverts, panel fences, paving blocks, and kerbstones.
