Siemens opens new division

JAKARTA (JP): PT Siemens Indonesia, a supplier in the energy and communication industry, has opened a new business division to tap a growing demand for healthcare equipment in the country, the company's senior executive said here on Friday.

Speaking at a press conference, the company director Osriman Oesman said that the new division which began operation early this week increased the number of the German company's business divisions to 13.

The sale of the healthcare equipment was previously handled by an authorized distributor, he said.

Osriman said that Siemens Indonesia, a unit of the Germany- based Siemens Group, has also operated production facilities at Pulo Mas, East Jakarta and in Cilegon, West Java, producing switchgear panels and power plant components.

"We hope in the future we will also be able to produce some of the healthcare equipment," he said. (07)
