MUNICH (DPA): The German electrotechnology concern Siemens
said yesterday it is setting up a joint venture in Indonesia to
produce fiber optic cables outside of Jakarta.
Siemens said it holds a 51 percent stake in the venture set up
with PT Trafindo Perkasa. For some US$16 million, a plant will be
built at Cilegon outside Jakarta.
The facility is to go on stream in July 1996 and eventually
have annual production capacity of 70,000 kilometers of fiber
optic cables meant for the Indonesian market.
