Sidoarjo Station serves 7,003 passengers during Prophet Muhammad's Birthday holiday

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Area (Daop) 8 Surabaya has stated that Sidoarjo Station served 7,003 passengers during the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday holiday period from 21–25 August 2026.

KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Public Relations Manager Mahendro Trang Bawono, in a statement received in Sidoarjo on Wednesday, said the figure consisted of 3,599 departing passengers and 3,404 arriving passengers at Sidoarjo Station during the period.

“KAI Daop 8 Surabaya extends its thanks and appreciation to the more than seven thousand passengers who entrusted their journeys to Sidoarjo Station during the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday holiday,” said Mahendro.

Mahendro said the high passenger numbers demonstrate that the railway is increasingly trusted by the public as a mode of transport to support mobility during holiday periods and major religious occasions.

According to him, Sidoarjo Station plays a strategic role in supporting public mobility for intercity travel as well as activities in the Sidoarjo area and its surroundings.

He stated that KAI Daop 8 Surabaya ensured services ran optimally from the moment passengers entered the station area, through the departure process, to the journey to their destinations.

In addition to providing ease of mobility, Mahendro noted that rail travel also supports more orderly and sustainable mass transport through its large carrying capacity and integrated services.

“Travel during holiday periods holds significant meaning for passengers, especially for gathering with family and maintaining ties, so KAI is committed to providing the best service to ensure journeys run smoothly and comfortably,” he said.
