Sidoarjo Square Increasingly Comfortable as Facilities Are Continuously Maintained
The leadership of Sidoarjo Regent Subandi and Deputy Regent Mimik Idayana has delivered comfortable public facilities for the community. One of these is Alun-Alun Sidoarjo, which is now increasingly busy as a space for residents to carry out activities, exercise, and gather with family.
Since being redesigned with a new look, Alun-Alun Sidoarjo has become one of the most widely used public spaces. The variety of facilities available gives residents more options for activities, from children playing to people exercising and relaxing.
The Sidoarjo Regency Government is also ensuring residents’ comfort is maintained through routine upkeep. Cleanliness of the area and the condition of facilities are priorities so that the amenities that have been built can continue to be enjoyed by the public.
Head of the Sidoarjo Environmental and Hygiene Agency (DLHK), Arif Mulyono, said staff have been assigned to scheduled cleaning and periodic maintenance in several areas of Alun-Alun Sidoarjo.
“We have divided the schedules for periodic cleaning staff across the square’s areas, from mopping and watering the grass to checking facilities,” Arif told detikcom on Saturday (29/8/2026).
Arif confirmed that maintenance is carried out regularly to keep the area clean while ensuring the facilities used by the public remain well cared for.
Alun-Alun Sidoarjo itself officially reopened in January 2026 after being revitalised. The area is now equipped with various facilities that can be enjoyed by the public, such as an amphitheatre, a children’s play area, a senior citizens’ area, a reading room, a jogging track, and outdoor sports facilities.
In addition, a number of supporting facilities are also available, such as free Wi-Fi, a tourism information centre, CCTV, and toilets. These amenities make the square increasingly friendly for people of all age groups.
On weekends, the atmosphere of the square usually becomes even livelier with residents coming with family or community groups.
The Sidoarjo Regency Government emphasised that the existing facilities do not stop at construction alone. Maintenance and monitoring continue to be carried out to preserve public comfort.
“Repairs are still under maintenance. Next year we will propose a budget for improving the square for the comfort of the people of Sidoarjo,” Arif explained.
Arif said the Sidoarjo Regency Government also plans to introduce a number of facility updates in 2027.
“In 2027, God willing, there will be many new facilities,” he added.
With increasingly complete facilities, regular maintenance, and future development plans, the Sidoarjo Regency Government continues to encourage Alun-Alun Sidoarjo to become a comfortable public space that can be enjoyed by the entire community.
“I enjoy playing at Alun-Alun Sidoarjo; it is suitable for bringing children. It is now even better,” said one Sidoarjo resident, Siti (38).
