In commemoration of World Environment Day 2026, the Sidoarjo Regency Government officially launched the ‘Sidoarjo Asri’ (Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful) programme through a mass greening action on Friday morning. In this movement, all State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Sidoarjo Regency government are required to plant one pucuk merah tree in various corners of the city, including parks and barren road verges. The tree planting action was led directly by Sidoarjo Regent Subandi together with Vice Regent Mimik Idayana at the Djuanda Flyover Park in Aloha. Sidoarjo Regent Subandi stated that the ‘Sidoarjo Asri’ movement is a form of regional commitment to supporting the ‘Indonesia Asri’ programme launched by President Prabowo Subianto, with the aim of creating a clean and sustainable environment. ‘This activity is to support the President’s Indonesia Asri programme. Today we are planting pucuk merah trees, one ASN, one tree,’ said Subandi after planting a tree at Djuanda Flyover Park. In the future, the Sidoarjo Regency Government plans to expand the scope of this programme so that it does not only target the bureaucracy. Subandi emphasised that the ‘Sidoarjo Asri’ movement will soon be integrated at the village level and into school environments to comprehensively realise a safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful Sidoarjo region. ‘Later, not only ASN, if possible, schools will also participate in the Sidoarjo Asri movement,’ concluded Subandi.
