Sidoarjo Regency Achieves Second Best Child Protection Index in East Java

Sidoarjo Regency has achieved the second-best Child Protection Index (IPA) in East Java. This achievement stands as one of the positive performance indicators of the Sidoarjo Regency administration, led by Regent Subandi, in fulfilling children’s rights and protection.

The award was presented by the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, to the Vice Regent of Sidoarjo, Mimik Idayana, during the commemoration of the East Java Provincial National Children’s Day in July 2026.

This achievement was supported by the strengthening of protection systems for women and children through various programmes. These efforts are part of a commitment to ensuring that children grow up in a safe environment.

The Head of the Department of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning (P3AKB) of Sidoarjo Regency, Heni Kristiani, stated that strengthening continues through several programmes, ranging from violence prevention to increasing the capacity of service officers.

“Through coordination meetings for violence prevention, socialisation in schools and communities, as well as training in management, case handling, and trauma healing for service officers,” said Heni on Friday (4/9/2026).

The Sidoarjo Regency administration is also maximising the role of PUSPAGA RINATA as part of the effort to strengthen the family function in providing protection to children.

“In addition, the government continues to encourage the formation of Women-Friendly and Child-Care Villages (DRPPA) at the village and sub-district levels,” she added.

Furthermore, the PPA hotline service has been integrated with relevant cross-sectoral agencies. Cooperation networks with various partners are also being strengthened to ensure that the handling of issues involving women and children can be carried out in a more coordinated manner.

These steps are crucial as the challenges of child protection no longer exist solely in physical spaces. The use of technology and social media presents new risks, ranging from cyberbullying to child exploitation in the digital sphere.

With the achievement of the second-best IPA in East Java, alongside the strengthening of prevention, services, and protection networks, the Sidoarjo Regency administration continues to promote the creation of a safer environment for children.
